Her wings were getting tired. Just how far could one Matterkat walk?

She had been with his clan when he was born - she herself had three noisy children to look after on that cliff edge. She watched, amazed as the small kat recieved his bandages, too weak to do anything other than mew a little. She smiled, for the pride on the parent's faces made her think of her own children. They were seated behind her now, cuddled close and she could feel the warmth of her family. She was a young mother, left alone, and her pride would get in the way when someone offered help.

As her own children grew, so too did the young kats. She was always amazed by the little one she witnessed the birth of, watching as the others pushed him out of their games. It was not that the clan did not accvept him, for she had noticed that Matterkats seemed protective of one another, it was just he was simply different, and, as children, they did not understand that sometimes, being different was good.

As he grew, the young matterkat would wander off, and stare up into the cliffs. She got the feeling that he was watching her family, although they were too high up to be seen well. He would flick his left ear from time to time, a habit al Matterkats shared, although he was yet to reach adulthood, so only the silence of the night answered him.

It was quite a while before he returned. Her own children were learing to fy, swooping and diving after firefiles, or anything else that they coud chase. When he returned, he was not alone. She could recognize the other young matterkats from his clan, and she flew to the opposite cliff face to get a better look at them.

It was the worst mistake she would ever make. It took her too long to see that they all had earpieces in, that they had reached adulthood. It took her too long to realise they were sealing their pace as adults with a hunt.

They were hunting her family. As soon as she realised this, she flew, hoping to scare them off, but they were too fast for her. It was a miracle she was not spotted or killed in the struggle as she tried to get them off her children. They left, with their prizes, and she was left alone on her cliff, crying for the children she loved so much.

Something changed in her then. She saw a kat, the very one she had been watching all his life, leave the group, claking his earpiece to say goodbye. She took her chance. She followed.

Trodaire would pay for the blood he spilt on the snow that night.

And here she was, still following him, waiting for the perfect moment, and it had come. He had curled up under a rock in the snow, now the sun was coming over the hills. She landed, glad for the rest, but her anger drove her on. She was sneaking around the rock to face him, keeping in the shadows when he spoke.

'I know you're there, Kobi. I know you have followed me, and I want you to know that I am sorry.' She was taken aback. He lead his clan to her family, and now he was sorry? She hissed.

'You led them there, you have watched us your whole life, kat. I've seen you.' She moved a little closer to him, hissing softly, but her anger had given way to only crushing grief.

'I tried to stop them up there, Kobi. You have no idea. I have watched your family, and they noticed me. I followed them, thinking I could stop them, but they were far more dangerous than I, and I had no wish to recieve a bite from any of them. I'm sorry. I left beacuse of what they did to your family, and already I am miising them' His red eyes, which she had thought evil only minutes ago, softened, were glistening with fear and regret. He moved his paw closer to her, and all she could see was the small kat from all those years ago, on the night he was born. She moved in closer to him, his thick, silky fur providing shelter as well as the rock, and she quickly fell asleep, drained from all the flying.

His nature soon took over. He was proctective, like any Matterkat, and they shared a close bond. While he could never replace the three children she lost, he became a good friend to her, and every night, they would curl up, just like the first night they had met. She learnt his name, and, in time, she gave him a name instead
- the very name she had called him the night of the attack. Trodaire. He smiled, and clacked his earpiece, accepting the name, as long as he could name her something. Sneachta.

She smiled. They still had work to do.

Someone had to be held responsible for the blood on the snow.

The best names and story will win the two.

This may help you get the story more accurate, I'm more likely to pick an accuarte story [link]
